The Plot
HЯ
After the Battle of Hogwarts in May of 1998, the survivors had to put their lives together. The horrors of the war, of the past year under the rule of Lord Voldemort continued to haunt many, especially those too young to face such things. However, on July 31st, 1998 something odd happened. A young man emerged from the Shrieking Shack, looking quite confused, seeing that he had just been at home and suddenly then at the shack in Hogsmeade. After wandering into Hogwarts Castle, he was found by the current Headmistress, Minerva McGonagall. Upon seeing the young boy's face, she nearly had a heart attack - how could he be here? And why did he look like he was a school boy? He had died months ago, and yet here he was - Severus Snape in the body of a 17 year old.
Contacting the ministry of magic under the rule of Kingsley Shacklebolt, Severus was taken in and examined by all experts who had no idea what was going on. Eventually, more people began to show up at the sites of their supposed deaths. There were only a few things they all had in common:
1.) They all came from a year which ended in the number 7, in the same month and day in which they appeared.
2.) They all did not have memories of their lives after their current age, but familiar sights led them to have occasional flashes of memories of who they were once.
3.) They all appeared in the location in which they died.
Experts could find no pattern in the amount that arrived, and when they arrived. Word was beginning to spread through the wizarding world - it wasn't affecting the muggles, no muggles had come back like this, only those of magical ability. A fear began to strike the populations - could Voldemort come back? What of his followers?
A movement led by Harry Potter and his friends led to the passing of 'The Second Chance Program'. Those who had returned would be given a place to live in a complex together, and crimes after their current age they committed would not be held against them. However, anyone who had committed a grievous crime, or was a Death Eater would be assigned a ministry handler who kept a close eye on them to make sure they did not make the same decisions they had before.
Those of school age would be allowed to attend Hogwarts with the other students, and complete their education, taking their marks from before into consideration, but only up to the time they seemed to come from.
Due to this phenomenon, Harry Potter returned to Hogwarts for the offered 8th year, a repeat of the previous year he had missed in order to help keep an eye on the returned and help them adjust to their surroundings. Several others from Harry's year came back for their final year as well to help as well - some due to the fact they wanted to help someone they respected and some because they were suspicious. Regardless, the 8th year class had only a few missing who decided to move on with their careers.
Of course, there are those who disagree with the Second Chance Program, and some of the returned folk have been attacked by masked assailants, telling them to go back where they came from. No one knows who these people are, but everyone knows their purpose: to keep the returned from melding into society, and perhaps even to kill the returned - after all they had died once, and some believe they should stay dead.
The school year is starting, the school is packed full of new students, old students, and even older students who seemingly returned from the grave. No one knows what has caused such an event and new people are returning every day. Some look onto the second chance students with fear, others with admiration.
This is where our story begins. Which side of the conflict will you be on? Will you want to help those given a second chance? Will you try to stop it? Or perhaps will you send them back where they came from, the other side, to their graves once more?
