It was the first day of class after he had found the body that weekend – and while the school was on edge, and he still didn’t quite understand why the headmistress was upset with him – he had a brilliant idea. And said idea was approved by the headmistress too. There were many adults at the school, but it had been one of those times when the younger students didn’t know how to defend themselves. The older ones knew – and even fought in some sort of war. But they didn’t know how to fight when their wand was taken away. Therefore, his services were needed outside of the professor role he was currently in.
Having found himself forging a few practice swords, Godric made his way to the great hall, clearing the tables to the side for this ‘club’ activity, which he considered more like an extra class. Sure, he just asked if he could reinstate the dueling club – and didn’t quite mention he was going to be bringing metal swords, even though blunt. Godric was from a different time after all, and dueling meant swords, shields, lances, and wands. One couldn’t be too dependent on their wands after all. Regardless of what the others would think of his methods, he had continued with his plans, no idea anyone might think it odd.
Instead of using magic to lift the tables, he pushed them with his bare hands, almost causing a leg of a table to fly off… but he repaired it quickly with his magic. Sweating a little bit at this point, he stood at the front of the room, a beautifully crafted sword at his side – sure it wasn’t his sword from back in the day, but from what he knew, that was in the headmistress’s office and would show to a true Gryffindor. It was his, but he wanted to make sure it was available when it was needed for his students.
Deciding not to waste time, he took his sword and began to swing at a dummy he had brought in, slashing and piercing the wooden shape. Yes, even if no one showed up, he would at least have some sort of practice until dinner was supposed to happen and he had to move everything back.
Will you still love me when I'm no longer young and beautiful?
